Hlumu lodge, managed by DIY Wild, is an animal sanctuary that rehabilitates animals to go back into the wild. We have seen some of the worst case scenarios, some of the most beautiful moments and some of the greatest people. But most of all, we see and strive for, progress.

If you think you have what it takes to put your time on the line, and for a good cause, join us and help to make a difference, meet new people and have an adventure with us that will impact your life, and especially the lives of the animals we assist in returning to the wild.

Let's do what we need to, nature needs us.

Feeling spontaneous? Volunteer immediately.

We know that whilst people want to help, it can be uncomfortable at times, this is why we offer spacious and private cabins that can either be shared or privately taken, while you are working with us. We provide meals and laundry services and a relaxation area for the end of your long day, so that you can be fresh and fully perform the duties we require here during the day. Work hard, play hard, that's what we are all about!

Our

Apartment

Based at the foot of the stunning Hlumuhlumu Mountains, Hlumu Lodge is the ideal destination for a naturally beautiful and relaxing getaway. We offer affordable accommodation paired with a friendly and warm ambiance. Perfectly situated with panoramic views over the Badplaas valley, we offer 12 en-suite chalets, each with its own private deck overlooking the spectacular mountains.

Hlumu Lodge is located a mere 6km outside of the town of Badplaas. We are a comfortable 3 hour drive from Gauteng and only 1 hour from both Nelspruit and Witbank. Hlumu Lodge is an ideal stop over for travelers en route to the Kruger National Park, Swaziland and Mozambique.

Hi.. We are the Hlumu team. We hope that you are interested in our project, because we really can use all the help we can get. Times are tough, and it seems that everyday fewer people care enough to help. With that said, if you are willing to join us on our adventure, we are currently doing as much as we can to bring volunteers together and create a unique experience for them. With the current rates, we are currently offering an inclusive package with a trip to the Kruger National Park to the north, a must see for any nature lover.

We hope you have an exceptional day further, all the best wishes.
